This innovative treatment was FDA approved in 2001 and is an in-office treatment performed for select patients with Venous Insufficiency. Under local anesthesia, a thin laser catheter is introduced into the affected vein, with ultrasound guidance, and advanced up the leg. Once the laser placement is confirmed with Ultrasound, the laser is activated, gently heating and safely closing the vein. Over several months, the abnormal vein will gradually be reabsorbed.
